C♀DE: Debugging the Gender Gap Premiere

We are excited to announce a partnership with Ambulante California, a traveling community film festival dedicated to supporting and promoting documentary film as a tool for social and cultural change. One of the films included in the festival is CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap, a documentary that explores issues of gender and race disparity in STEM fields.

The film gives voice to women, people of color, and people of disenfranchised communities working behind the scenes in tech. CODE exposes the dearth of female and minority software engineers and explores the reasons for this gender gap and digital divide. CODE asks: what would society gain from having more women and people of color code, and how do we get there?

The Girl Develop It Community has been invited to participate in the premiere! Judging from the trailer, it’s a film worth seeing, so I hope that you’ll set aside your Saturday night plans to head downtown (handily just off the Red and Purple Lines) to show your support for the filmmakers and the festival.

See you all there!
